Pet of the Week

Share

With an ordinary name like John Smith, it is no surprise that this engaging shepherd mix seems eager to distinguish himself.

Found last month as a stray, he spent the first few days in the shelter feeling rather disoriented and frightened by his new surroundings. However, he quickly became more confident and now reveals himself as a playful, energetic and affectionate adolescent.

His exuberance sometimes gets the better of him, which suggests he would benefit from further training. Judged to be about 2 1/2 years old and apparently house-trained, John Smith is a healthy 70-pounder who will be neutered upon adoption. Perhaps he is still waiting for Pocahontas to rescue him, but he probably would settle for a loving, active family or any household appreciative of his joyful nature.
