Surf with the Big Dogs

The third annual Surf City Surf Dog event takes place in Huntington Beach, with opening ceremonies from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Shorebreak Hotel, 500 Pacific Coast Hwy. A Dog is Beachin’ Fashion Show by Dog Is Good takes place at 6:30 p.m. A Hot Diggity Dog Expo takes place at the Strand outside the hotel from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, with a PAWabunga Canine Costume Contest & Owner Look-a-Like Contest at 1 p.m. A dog surfing competition takes place from

Self-Management Class

The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program offers a free six-week self-management class at FountainGlen Seacliff Clubhouse, 7181 Garden Glen Court, Huntington Beach. The class runs from 9 to

Walk for Water

Women of the Wells leads its annual WOW Walk 4 Water in downtown Huntington Beach, starting on the beach by Beach Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K walk/run begins at 9:30 a.m. Proceeds will support clean water wells in Africa, Asia and South America. Cost per person is $25. Gardening Seminar

UCCE Master Gardeners of Orange County host their annual Gardening Seminar at the Huntington Beach Central Library, 7111 Talbert Ave. Speakers include Pat Welsh, Ron Vanderhoff, Annie Hall, Kay Havens and Teena Spindler, Birdie Fountain, Darren Haver, Cristin Fusano, Richard Hoenisch, Debra Lee Baldwin and John Kabashima. Bands and Bellies

Bands and Bellies VIII, a charity show to benefit the nonprofit Living Ubuntu, takes place at the Student Center at Golden West College, 15744 Goldenwest St., Huntington Beach. Performers include the bands Deep Stirrings and the Channeling, solo acoustic artist Shafi Rajput, seven belly-dancing acts and one hoop-dancing act. There will also be face-painting, body art, vendor booths and vegetarian food. Marina Marching Band

The Marina High School Marching Band performs at a benefit for the Make-A-Wish Foundation at Cold Stone Creamery, 7071 Warner Ave., Huntington Beach.
