Need last-minute Mother’s Day gifts?

Island Cowgirl in Huntington Beach just celebrated five years and has plenty of options for mum, according to designer and owner Heather Kraty.

The shop originally began as a flagship store for Kraty’s own line of inspiration jewelry, Kraty said in an email.

“As time went on, I began carrying artists from around the U.S.,” she said. “Most of them are friends’ work that I have admired for years.”

A big seller is anchor-type of jewelry, according to Kraty.

“People are digging anything with anchors on them,” she said. “Our most popular being our Anchor bracelet. And anything with words on it; inspirational sayings are hot.”

These days, accessories are trending toward bolder and chunkier, said Kraty, who added “It is a good way to take a plain outfit and immediately make it look dressier.”

Island Cowgirl is at 320 1/2 Main St. in Huntington Beach; (714) 963-6200.
