Two Oilers take top honors at Spotlight Awards

Two students from Huntington Beach High School received top honors at the 24th annual Music Center Spotlight Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

Senior Elizabeth Romero, 17, who is with the high school’s Academy for the Performing Arts, received a first place award in the non-classical voice category, and Tyler Donatelli, 15, who was a freshman at the high school at the start of the academic year, but now home schools and dances with the Southland Ballet Academy in Fountain Valley, took first place in the ballet category, according to a news release issued Monday by the Music Center officials.

Tony Award-winner Ben Vereen hosted the ceremony at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
