Surf City residents and aficionados love to hop to the huge 22nd Annual Easter Hunt and Family Fun Day, sponsored by the city of Huntington Beach and the Huntington Beach Kiwanis Club, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the city Sports Complex, 18000 Goldenwest St.

The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach is offering a variety of Easter happenings this weekend for its restaurant and hotel guests, including a waterslide relay race and egg spoon relay race at 3 p.m. Sunday; appearances from the Easter Bunny; two Easter egg hunts for hotel and restaurant guests, divided into sessions for kids 5 and under and 6 and over; the second annual Underwater Easter Egg Hunt at noon for hotel guests; and egg decorating at 2 p.m.

Pop by the Orange County Market Place swap meet from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday for its sixth annual Easter Festival & Treasure Hunt. The free hunt will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; bring an Easter basket to fill with candy and toys.

The first 500 kids in line also will receive a free gift. A special gold ticket redeemable for a giant prize will be hidden in a plastic egg. Free face painting will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; the Easter Bunny will be available for photos from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; free puppet shows are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.; free craft opportunities will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and stilt walkers will be on-hand in the morning.

The Silver Trumpet Restaurant and Bar at the Wyndham Orange County, 3350 Avenue of the Arts, Costa Mesa has planned a lakeside Easter brunch with live jazz featuring Sharon Marie Cline for $39 per adult (plus an additional $10 for bottomless mimosas) and $19 for kids ages 7 to 16.

Brunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; both lakeside patio and dining room seating are available, but reservations are recommended.

The menu will include health-conscious options, gourmet soups and salads, made-to-order omelets, classic side dishes, premium seafoods, carving stations, pancetta-wrapped chicken, rosemary crusted pork loin, potato crusted salmon, and the restaurant’s signature desserts. Venerable Corona del Mar favorite Five Crowns adds a contemporary touch to its menu this Easter, with service from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. A first course will be included in the price of the entrees; first courses include Mary Alice’s Pride Salad or a chilled asparagus soup with black truffle oil, as well as lobster bisque and a spring Caesar salad.

Brunch entrees available until 2 p.m. include pork belly hash with poached eggs; an artichoke and chive frittata; and the Five Crowns Eggs Benedict. Other selections include warm chicken confit and asparagus salad; seared Skuna Bay salmon; prime rib; filet mignon; Jidori chicken; lamb sirloin; and a vegetarian pasta.

TerraNova Church, 5 Whatney, Irvine, has scheduled four Easter services and egg hunts at 6 p.m. Friday, 5 p.m. Saturday, and 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday. For more fun down the coast, join in the longstanding (and very popular) annual egg hunt at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Laguna Beach High School baseball field; sponsored by the town’s American Legion Post 222 as well as its women’s auxiliary. The beloved local event is for kids ages 9 and under.

Photo ops with the Easter Bunny begin at 12:30 p.m.

Alternately, head to French 75, 1464 S. Coast Hwy., Laguna Beach, for a $40, three-course brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with unlimited sparkling wine or mimosas for just $10 more; kids receive a special Easter treat, and will be encouraged to participate in an early afternoon egg hunt.
