British research is topic of Genealogical Society meeting

The Genealogical Society will discuss English research at its Saturday meeting at the Huntington Beach Central Library, 7111 Talbert Ave.

Society President Hal Horrocks will speak at two sessions. At 11 a.m., he will cover using church parish registers and the British census. The parish registers go back to the 1500s and the British census starts in 1841.

The second session at 12:30 p.m. will cover finding birth, death and marriage certificates, contacting living cousins and more. The 11 a.m. program follows a 10 a.m. business meeting.

A 9 a.m. workshop will include the New England Special Interest Group and a planning session for The Bash—an all-day seminar with several speakers set for March 2.

At 12:30 p.m. there will be a workshop on basic genealogy and Irish-Scottish Special Interest Group on “Accessing Records in Ireland without Going There.”

The program and business meeting are free. There is a charge for workshops for non-members. Admission to workshops is free for members with a card.
