An unwanted 10-month-old puppy that was tied to train tracks in Riverside County last month was adopted Friday by a Huntington Beach couple, animal services officials announced.

Additional teens arrested in skateboard assault

One juvenile is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with great bodily injury; the other is arrested on suspicion of a probation violation.

Authorities arrested two additional suspects Thursday in the alleged assault on a man by a group of skateboarders, police said. There are now five suspects involved in the case.

AQMD: Beach bonfires increase pollution

SCAQMD's preliminary report shows some pollution levels in areas closest to fire rings rose to degrees considered unhealthy, particularly in Newport beaches.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District, the agency that could effectively ban beach fire rings throughout Orange and Los Angeles counties, released preliminary results Wednesday showing increased levels of particulate matter in the air around the bonfires.
